One stroke can ruin a life, but it can also create something new and more beautiful. This is where all the beauty of sculpture lies. Deeply thought-out destruction from amorphous, dead materials, new bodies are born.
It was a privilege to peek into the art of Petar Hranuelli for a moment and experience at least for a short time the story told by his works. This is an experience that not only liberates the sculpture that sprouts from the stone, where the artist`s hand raises it from the shackles of cold material, but also
the liberation of the creator himself.
All of those who strive for a different experience of the world around them, who look at it from a different, subtler and sincerer angle, should find themselves here. Hidden power has been released from the stone, an energy that has revived new and different forms that now live and breathe on their own. The artist rejected all kinds of imitations and descriptions, and all that makes the material in which he works dead and dumb disappeared by removing the “excess”, to give rise to sculptures that leave no one indifferent. When we look at the entire creative work of the artist so far, we realize that a point has been made at this moment because he said everything he intended. It is now up to us to start communication, draw conclusions and experience the work completely freely, interpreting its symbolism in our own way.
His poetics is curious and provocative, which is mostly reflected in drawings and paintings. They exude a desire to reconcile animosity between human nature, the instincts that guide us that we often suppress and a culture that often propagates false morals. That is why his works are not and cannot be receptive to all those to whom morality, often shackled by a rigid religious dogma, is more important than the nature of man himself, than truth and spirit, his conscious and unconscious part of consciousness.
We will all agree that the exhibition, due to its theme, exudes a bit of extravagance, because in an unusual way it symbolizes libido as the initiator of all life processes, and in this case also the creative ones. A woman`s body is one of the main motives. She is Venus, the mother, a symbol of life, sophistication and primordial beauty… here, prehistoric aesthetics and the modern notion of female
beauty are at peace. Petar`s sculptures are the personification of birth, the relationship between the sexes, parents and offspring, and finally the relationship to human nature and oneself. Observing them in a thoughtful order scattered in space, we see life in all its forms, exposed in the current reality. Yet we will experience his world and understand it in different was depending on what
experience we have accumulated in our subconsciousness. Venus as a symbol of female power possessing the ability to give birth and Taurus as the embodiment of strength, place woman on the pedestal of total power.
His works represent a kind of introspection, a way of discovering that feminine side in every man that is crucial for the creation and creation of both life itself and the work of art. Libido as pure energy, female sexuality and the nature of paintings, drawings and sculptures are an attempt to find ways to fulfill the desire to create a poetic instinct that will touch a piece of mythology and the archetypal in us.
